Mopson Pharmaceutical Limited is a NIS ISO 9001:2008 certified company. It is a limited liability company incorporated under the Nigerian Companies’ Act. It started operations in 1977.
Dr. Michael Oyebanjo Paul, Chairman of Mopson Pharmaceutical Limited was born about 68 years ago at Odolewu village (near Ijebu Ode) in Ogun State.
He had his secondary School Education at St. John’s College, Ile-Ife from 1962 – 1966. He worked briefly as an Immigration Officer before going to the Federal School of Science Lagos in 1969.
He attended the then University of Ife, Ile-Ife, now, Obafemi Awolowo University where he graduated as a Pharmacist in 1973.
He started Mopson Pharmaceutical as a Compounding Chemist in 1977 at 24, Itire Road, Surulere and the company now has its ultra modern head office at No 47 Osolo Way, Ajao Estate, Lagos.
All Mopson’s products are award winning and were developed by the company’s research and development Laboratory. For example, Neofylin cough syrup was adjudged as Africa’s best cough mixture of the year 2006 and Asmalyn syrup won the best Asthma management award in 2012. Thus, his products have been tagged “Products of excellence” nationally and internationally.
In 1992, the company started a research project to develop stable and potent Vitamin C syrup. Two institutions, University of Lagos and University of Ibadan were involved under the guidance of Professor Olaniyi of the University of Ibadan and Professor Fola Tayo of the University of Lagos. The project was successful and this led to the birth of Ascorbion C 300 which today is the most stable, most potent and most affordable Vitamin C syrup in the market with less than 5% loss after ten years.
He is the recipient of several commendations and awards for his industrial and charitable prowess. In 1998, he received the “ECOWAS Gold Award” in recognition of his distinguished entrepreneurial endeavour. Same year, he was recognized as “Man of the Year” by the Guardian Newspaper. He also received from the Rotary Club an award “Industrialist of the Year” in 1998. In 1999, he received the “Prestigious Leadership Award of Excellence” from the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria and “Eminent Persons Award” from the Nigerian Associations of Industrial Pharmacists. In 2002, he became a fellow of the prestigious West African Post graduate College of Pharmacy. He is also a fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria.
On the 4th July, 2013 he became a recipient of an honorary Doctor of Business Administration degree (DBA) from the reputable Commonwealth University.
Dr Michael Oyebanjo Paul, Chairman / Managing Director, Mopson Pharmaceutical Ltd, is a devout Christian and a philanthropist. He is married and blessed with children.
